A Todd County attorney attended the 2024 Republican National Convention in Wisconsin earlier this month.
Mark Collins, the founder and owner of Collins Law, PLLC, recently spoke with Your WEKT News Edge about his experiences. He mentioned that it was his first time attending the convention, where he served as an alternate delegate for Kentucky.
Although he couldn’t cast a delegate vote for the now-nominee Donald Trump, it was a historical conference, occurring just days after the assassination attempt on former President Trump.
Collins added the party is confident that President Trump can win a second term, no matter who the Democrats nominate as their candidate.
Collins expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to attend the convention and encouraged anyone interested in becoming a delegate to reach out to party leaders for more information. He noted that his experience was a rare moment for Todd County.
Collins added that the local Republican party is continuing to see increasing membership.
Collins stated that the local party aims to closely adhere to the national party’s agenda and highlighted that Kentucky has been successful in electing Republican constitutional leaders, with the exception of Democrat Governor Andy Beshear, who is currently serving his second term.
