James Rogers, Jr., 90, of Elkton

James David Rogers, Jr., 90, of Elkton, Kentucky died at 8:43 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Christian Heights Nursing & Rehab Center in Pembroke, Kentucky.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Rev. Kara Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky he was born on October 5, 1933, the son of the late James David Rogers, Sr. and Jessie Elizabeth Brown Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, William Winfield Rogers, his sister-in-law, Beverly Jane Rogers, and his nephew, Bob Rogers.

He had worked in construction and was a retired mail carrier for the United States Post Office in Hopkinsville. He was baptized in the Universalist Church and then joined the Christian Church in 1948. He was also a United States Navy Veteran and was stationed in Alaska.

Survivors include his brother: Robert L. “Bobby” Rogers of Hopkinsville, KY; his sister, Mary Susan Rogers (Don) Fishman of Madisonville, KY; his nephews, Jim Rogers and Greg (Phoebe) Fishman; his niece, Amy (Bill) Corbin; his great nieces and nephews, Sam Fishman, Mallory Fishman, William Corbin and Taylor Corbin and his special friend, Marlene Sisk.
