TCCHS Alumni Foundation Named June’s ‘Above And Beyond’ Chamber Member

The TCCHS Alumni Foundation, Inc. was named Todd County Chamber of Commerce’s “Above and Beyond” Member of the Month for June.

Alumni Foundation secretary and founding member Carolyn Wells says she is “tickled pink” that the foundation was honored with this distinction. She adds it’s an honor to be recognized for what the foundation does to help students at Todd Central.

The Alumni Foundation was founded in 2013 as the TCCHS Alumni Association, working under the Todd County Board of Education. Last summer, the organization decided to pursue becoming its own separate entity and is now officially a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The foundation’s emphasis is providing scholarships for graduating TCCHS seniors, something the organization began doing in 2014. Since then, Wells says the foundation has handed out $213,850 in scholarship funds.

Every year, the foundation hands out two $750 scholarships financed entirely through its fundraising efforts. Wells says everything else is financed from the community and individual donors.

The foundation raises money through its merchandise shop online, offering coins, mugs and other gifts, as well as membership contributions, $10 yearly or $200 for a lifetime membership. Currently, the foundation has 112 members, but Wells says her goal is to grow to 125 by the end of 2024. She is also hoping to involve more young people with the organization in the future.

The Alumni Foundation also has a partnership with WEKT, featuring various TCCHS alumni in “alumni spotlights.” Wells encourages alumni to visit the foundation’s website and fill out the online form to be featured on WEKT – HERE.

Wells extends her thanks to the Todd County Chamber of Commerce for naming the TCCHS Alumni Foundation, Inc. as its “Above and Beyond” Member of the Month.
