Todd County Central High School Alumni Spotlight: Pamela Phillips

Pamela L. (Kirkman) Phillips is a 1998 graduate of Todd County Central High School.

She values most from her years at Todd Central her time playing basketball and softball, her wonderful friendships and the valuable life lessons she learned that helped shape her into who she is today.

Phillips says she has many fond memories of her experiences with softball and basketball as well as great times with friends and amazing teachers, specifically editing videos for Mrs. Nancy Dye. She adds she will always treasure the memory of dancing to “Space Jam” with the girls basketball team — as well as winning the district championship.

She advises current Todd Central students to make memories and live in the moment. She adds they should get involved in something, work hard, do their best and make the effort to learn what they need for the next chapter of their lives. Also, she says not to be scared of being themselves.

To current educators, she says to hang in there. On days when teachers may feel as if they aren’t making a difference, Phillips reassures them to someone, they are. She says what they do matters and they are important to the future.

After graduating, Phillips attended Austin Peay State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in wellness promotion before receiving a master’s in exceptional education from Western Kentucky University. She has been teaching for 22 years in special education at North Todd Elementary and she says it continues to be a very rewarding job that she loves. She adds she is also a portrait photographer in Todd County and surrounding counties.

Phillips was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and currently lives in Auburn, Kentucky with her spouse, Kelly Phillips. She has three children, Sydney Conyea, Adrian Conyea and Hadley Phillips.
