Todd County Central High School Alumni Spotlight: Douglas Powell

Douglas Wayne Powell is a 2006 graduate of Todd County Central High School.

He values most from his time in school the time he spent with his friends in Arthur Green’s class. He says Green was not only a great ag teacher, but also taught students about life. Powell didn’t realize what an impact his class would have on him, but looking back, he says it was some of his best memories of high school.

Another special memory of his was meeting his wife Denea in the halls of Todd Central, and he says he will always treasure the memory of senior prom with her. Powell adds he ended up enjoying three proms with his wife and they were memories to last a lifetime. This November, the couple will be married 15 years.

Powell advises current Todd Central students to pay attention in language arts class because those skills will be used much more than they will ever expect.

To current educators, he says to remember each student has different circumstances when it comes to their home lives. He says to find ways to connect with them and don’t always think the worst most of the time, they just need someone to believe in them.

Powell says the Lord has blessed him in his current position as Regional Manager for Airgas Dry Ice, where he covers plants in Wyoming, Iowa, Texas and Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He adds he has been able to meet some pretty amazing people in his position. He loves getting to know other people and being able to share how the Lord blessed him to get to where he is today.

Powell was born in Greenville, Kentucky and currently lives in Claymour, Kentucky. He and his wife have four children, Dayton, Douglas, Delany and Devin.
