Over 440 people are working throughout the Pennyrile Electric service area Tuesday to restore electricity to thousands of homes and businesses.

Brent Gilkey, Vice-President of Member Services, told Your News Edge that service has been restored to over 10,000 members since Sunday’s storms.

Gilkey added it appears the worst of the damage occurred around the Peedee Substation.

Although no estimated time of restoration has been determined for any part of the region, Gilkey mentioned that some areas could remain without power for a few more days.

Gilkey added the majority of the work involves replacing the hundreds of power poles that were damaged.

Pennyrile Electric is providing safety tips for using generators and managing food in refrigerators and freezers. These tips are available on their Facebook page.
