The City of Elkton is one of the fastest growing cities in the state according to estimates released last week by the Kentucky Data Center.
According to population estimates, Elkton had 2,230 people in 2023 — an increase of 165 people from 2000 or 8%.
It was the the third-largest increase by percentage in the state behind only Pippa Passes and Fairfield.
The increase moves Elkton past Dawson Springs as the 11th largest city in the nine-county Pennyrile region.
The city of Guthrie had 1,335 people in 2023, down two people from 2000.
