The TCCHS Choir and 4-H Performing Arts Troupe celebrated the arts with a special musical performance Monday, May 6 in the TCCHS auditorium.
The performance, A Night of the Arts, was a partnership between TCCHS Choir Director Erica Skipworth and 4-H Performing Arts Troupe Director Lee Ann McCuiston, featuring both groups as well as a few additional performers. McCuiston called the performance a huge success and “quite a show” — it even featured a “Dirty Dancing” lift, which she says got lots of audience applause.
McCuiston, along with the help of Todd County Schools’ Lisa Petrie, begins directing the troupe in December of each year and goes until May. The troupe will perform for North and South Todd Elementary Schools’ student bodies Monday, May 13 to end its season, then hold one additional performance open to the public at the Kentucky State Fair in August.
Once the troupe starts up again, any middle or high school student is welcome to audition with a two-minute song. McCuiston says nobody is cut because that’s not the 4-H way – the auditions are simply for her to assess the students’ talents and where they can be placed with solos.
