Joe Nell Waters, 69, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Larry Waters (Allensville, KY), her mother, Belvie Glenn (Trenton, KY), her brother, Glen Glenn (Amy), Clarksville, TN, one uncle, L.C. Glenn (Martha), Trenton, KY, one niece, Elizabeth Glenn Holt (Josh), Brentwood, TN; , three nephews, Eddy Lee Glenn II (April)Trenton, KY), Jay Glenn (Rachel), Lebanon TN, Bren Glenn (Carrie), Dickson, TN, and 3 grandnieces: Leah Catherine Glenn, Hadlee Elizabeth Glenn, and Madison (Maddie) James Glenn.
She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Glenn, and her brother, Eddy Lee Glenn I.
Mrs. Waters was a retired teacher and administrator. She taught at New Providence Middle School, was Assistant Principal at Kenwood Middle School, Principal at Montgomery Middle School, and Principal at her alma mater, Todd County Central High School. She served children and parents of these schools for 35 years.
Mrs. Waters died as she lived, helping others, in a clinical trial for a new treatment for cancer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Thanks to VUMC for the love and care she was afforded.
The family would like to recognize two special friends who comforted her during her hospitalization: Nola Robertson and Diane Bellar.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 Saturday, May 11, at Guthrie Church of Christ, 706 West Park Street; visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, KY is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Waters requests no flowers; Donations to her church (Guthrie Church of Christ, P.O. Box 446, Guthrie, KY 42234) would be appreciated.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Eddy Lee Glenn II, Jay Glenn, and Bren Glen; Josh Holt, Glen Robertson, Kenneth Westerman, Matthew Talley, and Paul Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be L. C. Glenn and her Guthrie classmates from the TCCHS Class of ’73.
