The start of the Ohio Valley Summer Baseball League is a month away and the Hoptown Hoppers are needing host families for players and coaches that will be coming to Hopkinsville over the Memorial Day weekend for an eight-week stay.
Jamie Folz is the housing coordinator for the Hoppers and she said just over half of the players have a place to stay this summer.
Folz said being a host family has a small set of requirements.
She said the players aren’t in the house 24/7 due to practices, games, and other activities throughout the summer.
While most of the host families are located throughout Christian County, she said some have been in Trigg and Todd counties.
A host family will receive free admission to Hopper games at home.
People interested in being host families can contact Folz at 270-889-7909 or email jamie.folz@gmail.com.
The Ohio Valley Baseball League is a summer wooden bat league comprised of current college players or those entering their freshmen year.
First-year Hopper coach Jarrod Brissenden picked most of the roster of players.
After growing to 10 teams last year, the Ohio Valley League downsized over the winter to five teams — Paducah, Madisonville, Fulton, and Henderson.
The Hoppers open its 2024 season at Henderson on Friday, May 31. Their first home game is Sunday, June 2 against Madisonville.
