During Elkton Rotary Club’s 100th anniversary dinner held Saturday night, Elkton Mayor Arthur Green shared his appreciation for the local civic organization.
Mayor Green said the club has served as a beacon of hope, service, and goodwill in the community.
E.W. Weathers, the Mayor of Elkton in 1924, was a founding member of the group. Mayor Green shared there have been 16 mayors to serve the city since. Throughout that time, the Elkton Rotary Club has withstood the test of time.
Mayor Green closed out his speech by sharing historical facts from 1924 and thanked the club and its members for their continued efforts.
He added the world would be a better place if everyone lived to the Rotary International motto, “Service Above Self.”
