It’s Family Resource Youth Services Coalition of Kentucky (FRYSCK) Week, and members of the Elkton Rotary Club heard an update from the Todd County group Wednesday.

Sarah Latham, who operates services at Todd County Middle School, shared 2023 numbers from across the district with the club:

  • 40 families were given kid-friendly summer food boxes
  • 134 students received back-to-school clothes assistance
  • Over 200 pairs of shoes were collected for the ‘Happy Feet’ program
  • 42 families were given Thanksgiving food baskets
  • 370 children received Angel Tree holiday assistance
  • Over 250 children had services completed through the School Smiles Dentist program

Latham thanked the Elkton Rotary Club for their effort last year in putting on a 5K race, which raised over $1,000 for the ‘Happy Feet’ program.

She added as the current school year continues, they desperately need donations for the backpack food program. The program is funded through donations given to the Todd County Extension Office. Recently, the program had around $700, but north of $1,100 is needed each month to meet the current needs. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 97, Elkton, Kentucky, 42220.

Latham said that since their visit last year with the civic group, things have gotten significantly better.

In 2023, the Todd County FRYSC raised over $26,000 to help fund those initiatives and received numerous items like grocery gift cards and donations from the Back To Back Foundation to help families in need.

If you are interested in giving to any of the other initiatives, you can mail donations to FRYSC Todd Co. Board of Education – 205 Airport Road, Elkton, Kentucky, 42220. There is a youth service center in each school in Todd County.
