The Todd County Senior Center is offering tax counseling as part of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programs (RSVP).
Simple tax forms will be prepared free of charge for Todd County citizens with priority given to the elderly. Senior Center Director Charlotte Lyons says Karen Simons, RSVP Director, will oversee appointments every Wednesday. The tax forms will then be taken to the Christian County Senior Center to be completed.
Those interested in receiving tax counseling can call the center anytime to schedule an appointment, but Lyons says Simons can only accept clients on Wednesdays. Alternatively, those interested may bring their tax forms directly to the Christian County Senior Center.
Lyons says those filing their taxes with the center cannot own a business or rental houses and asks that interested participants bring the following information:
-W2 and 1099 forms
-Information for other incomes
-Copy of last year’s tax returns
-Information for all reductions or credit
-Proof of account for direct deposit or refunds
-Social Security card or individual taxpayer ID
-Proof of identification
She adds both spouses must be present if filing joint.
To make an appointment or learn more about what to bring, call the Todd County Senior Center at 270-265-5935.
