The Todd County Board of Education approved the 2024-25 school year calendar and received a clean financial audit Monday night.
The calendar features 172 instructional days, with school starting on Friday, August 9, 2024. Notably, this day will also serve as an early release for students. As for the fall break, it has been scheduled for the week of October 7, 2024. The decision regarding this break was made after conducting a survey earlier this year, in which 360 community members participated. The survey revealed that nearly 57 percent of respondents, including parents, students, and staff members, preferred the second full week of October. Similarly, out of the 198 staff members who responded, almost 73 percent shared the same preference.
Thanksgiving Break will be held from November 27-29, winter break will be from December 23, 2024, to January 6, 2025. Spring break will be held April 1-4, 2025 and the last day of school is slated to be May 16, 2025. The entire school calendar can be found here.
Additionally, the school board approved a clean financial audit from Duguid, Gentry, and Associates, of Hopkinsville. The audit was for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2023.
The board also gave its approval for the 2024 meeting dates, which remain unchanged. These meetings will continue to include a monthly work session held on the Thursday preceding the second Monday of each month, coinciding with the board meeting. The work session commences at 5:00 PM, while the board meetings kick off at 6:00 PM. Although the majority of these gatherings take place at the Todd County Board of Education office, there are instances where alternative locations within the district are chosen.
