Emma Katherine Harris is a 2020 graduate of Todd County Central High School.
After graduating, she attended Western Kentucky University for her bachelor’s in healthcare administration with a certificate in brewery and distillery. Currently, Harris is completing an internship at Barren River Area Development District with an emphasis on aging and independent living.
Harris values the sports and clubs she was able to participate in most from Todd Central. She says she will always treasure the memory of participating in AG events and classes – after talking with college friends, she learned this was not a luxury that many other schools had. She also remembers pep rallies, and student sections and building homecoming floats.
To current students, Harris says they should think very hard about what they want to do with their futures before they go and spend a lot of money on a university. She adds to research or get job experience before they decide what they want to do for the rest of their lives.
To current educators, she says to remember that today’s generation is nowhere near as similar to what older generations were like as students. Harris says the world has changed tremendously and today’s students need to be taught about real life so they won’t be unprepared.
Harris was born in Sharon Grove, Kentucky and now lives in Bowling Green.
