Todd County Central High School Alumni Spotlight: Sarah Belanger

Sarah Elisabeth Belanger is a 1991 graduate of Todd County Central High School.

After graduating, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University and a master’s in education from the University of the Cumberlands. She then went on to become a math teacher at Todd Central.

In high school, Belanger says she received a good education, one that prepared her for college, and made friends that she still keeps in contact with. She also says she enjoyed her four years of playing basketball at Todd Central.

A memory she will always treasure is going to the state competition with the basketball team in 1991. She adds she also remembers Ms. Wells’ English IV class and Mrs. Osborne’s algebra class.

To current students, Belanger says to take your earbuds out and listen to your teacher – try to learn because the information will come in handy in the future. To current educators, she says to keep trying to reach students by teaching the content and making it relevant to their lives.

Belanger was born in Clarksville, Tennessee and now lives in Elkton, Kentucky. She has two children, Kaylee Younce and Cody Belanger.
