The Todd County Family Resources and Youth Services Center Backpack Program has added a new element.
Todd County 4-H Extension Agent Lee Ann McCuiston says the program, which provides food to students over the weekend, now has a component called Adopt a Backpacker.
The Backpack Program provides food throughout the entire school year for students at North and South Todd Elementary, Todd County Middle, and Todd County Central High School.
McCuiston says the food is designed to be a well-balanced meal for a child.
She adds bags are sent out weekly.
McCuiston says around 70 students in all four schools that are currently part of the program, but it can’t proceed with more students without the funds the supply food – this is what the Adopt a Backpacker component is for.
Anyone can make a check out at any time of the year to Todd County 4-H, the fiscal agent of the Backpack Program. Monetary donations can also be brought to 240 Pond River Rd. in Elkton.
To sign a student up for the program, contact the Todd County Family Resources and Youth Services Center.
