85-year-old Frank McReynolds of Elkton was recently honored with the Gold Standard of Optimal Aging Award.
The award, presented by the University of Louisville Trager Institute, celebrates “older adults, aged 85 years and over, who lead engaged and flourishing lives and inspire those around them with their zest for life.”
McReynolds says only 39 people in Kentucky were 2023 Gold Standard honorees.
McReynolds is an Army veteran of 37 years and a dedicated civil servant for the City of Elkton. 2023 marks his eight year as a city councilman. He is also a member of the Senior Citizens’ Center’s Aging Council, something he says is a great asset to the community.
To him, one thing that sets Todd County apart from other communities is its low crime rate.
McReynolds was present at Elkton’s HarvestFest on Sept. 23 and adds he has never missed the event.
He is one of four Todd Countians to receive the award this year, sharing the honor with Barbara Jordan, Janette Sharp, and Jack Weber.
