Guthrie Overcomes Rain To Celebrate Heritage Days, Raises Funds For Event

Rain did not fully dampen the spirits of Guthrie community members during the 2023 Heritage Days Festival.

While the weather kept some people away, locals enjoyed the vendors and food options that were made available on South Ewing Street. Several musicians also took to the stage at Longhurst Park.

One of the more popular events was the silent auction inside the Guthrie Transportation Museum. The fundraiser collected over $4,100.

Auction organizer Monica Sears told Your WEKT News Edge that the funds raised go back to the annual festival.

Connie Wofford, another organizer, thanked the item donors from Guthrie, Elkton, and Bowling Green, as well as Adams and Clarksville, Tennessee, for making the fundraiser possible. She also thanked everyone who placed a bid on the 131 items that were up for auction.

Additionally, former Guthrie Mayor Scott Marshall is thanking the community for supporting the country ham fundraiser, held in conjunction with the festival. That brought in $710. Guthrie city councilman Chad Johnson won the B&B Farms state championship ham.
