Construction is moving right along for the new home of the Todd County Public Library, with the building set to open by the spring.

Library director Audrea Clairmont tells Your WEKT News Edge the new facility at 507 South Main Street in Elkton has seen some great progress.

The $4.1 million building will feature more space for the library.

The 12,900 square-foot facility, will be paid through a grant from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. The grant will provide $212,150 yearly for 20 years, according to WEKT News Edge contributor Carolyn Wells. The building is being constructed by C&C Contracting, LLC, of Russellville.

Clairmont says for now, the facility at 302 East Main Street, is open six days a week.

As Todd County preschool students head to school starting Wednesday, August 16, Clairmont says the library will host its Friday story-time for the youngsters.

Also, on the week of Halloween, the library will host a “frightful animals program.”
